CARMEL-BY-THE-SEA

After a quick (very rainy) visit to Alcatraz, we got in our car to discover the Monterey County; our first stop was Carmel. We were quite worried about driving in the rain, so we decided to take Route 101 instead of driving along the coast, which we were still going to do the following day.

After more than 3 hours in the car (it was rush hour and it was storming so the traffic was moving at a really slow pace), we made it to Carmel By The Sea and we went straight to dinner at Anton & Michel. The location was beautiful, elegant and cozy, but what we loved the most was the outside area: the pool, the fountains and the string lights made for an excellent space. Also, our waitress was Italian, so it made us feel right at home!

After dinner, we finally checked in at the cutest hotel! After such a long day, The Hideaway was everything we couldโ€™ve asked for, and more. It is a newly redesigned boutique hotel a few steps away from the beach and downtown Carmel by the Sea.

The style of the bedroom was great, the bed was extremely comfortable and the fireplace was the cherry on top. In the morning we enjoyed a delicious European breakfast in the lounge area before getting ready to explore the small town. By the way, if you stay here, which you must, donโ€™t forget to try their salty croissants filled with eggs, ham and tomatoes!

While walking around Carmel we were surprised to discover how charming this town is! With all the small cottages, the greenery, the cobblestone streets and beautifully decorated tiles, it felt like we were on the set of a movie!
