Summer is knocking on the door and, since June 3rd, the Italian boarders have been open for EU tourists again*.
After many long and difficult months, we’re starting to feel the need to unplug and see the beauty around us; so we decided to go through our archive to highlight some of our favorite destinations and iconic hotels to visit this season.
Over the years we’ve been lucky enough to visit some of the most unique and magical places in our beautiful country, something that we’ll never take for granted. We hope this article will give you some inspiration for your future trips to Italy.

Belmond Hotel Splendido

Portofino, Italian Riviera

This luxurious and beautiful hotel is located in Portofino, in the dreamy Italian Riviera and it’s always been a favorite for many Hollywood stars and dignitaries. We visited this paradise all the way back in 2017, and we didn’t just fall in love with our gorgeous suite but also the beautiful balconies, the flower garden and the cuisine. Another highlight is the heated salt water pool overlooking the sea, where all hotel guests can enjoy their day.
If you happen to be in the area, but are not staying here, we recommend stopping by La Terrazza restaurant for an alfresco lunch or dinner in the most beautiful scenery.

Belmond Hotel Splendido re-opens: June 19th.

Le Sirenuse

Positano, Amalfi Coast

The Amalfi Coast is one of the most beautiful places in the entire world, and Positano should definitely be on top of your list when you visit the area; a few years back we wrote a long blogpost about it that you can checkout here

Le Sirenuse is one of the dreamiest hotels you’ll ever have the pleasure to stay at. It’s got so much history, a unique design and a truly outstanding view. The restaurant, the pool, the rooms… there’s nothing you won’t like about this place!

Le Sirenuse re-opens: July 2nd.

Belmond Hotel Caruso

Ravello, Amalfi Coast

“A former 11th century palace set on cliffs beside the Amalfi Coast, Belmond Hotel Caruso seems to drift on a ‘balcony’ above the Mediterranean Sea”.
This hotel literally took our breath away, and the reason why is pretty simple: it’s got the most beautiful infinity pool in the world, which is so magical and iconic that the color of the water blends with the color of the sky and sea. They have many dining spots, but one of our favorites was the cozy Pool Snack Bar by the pool for a real Italian pizza.
Don’t forget to book a boat excursion as part of the experiences provided by the hotel to see the Amalfi Coast by sea.

Belmond Hotel Caruso re-opens: July 1st.

The St. Regis Venice

Venice

Definitely one of our favorite hotels in Venice, the recently renovated St. Regis Venice combines historic elements with modern luxury in a privileged location that overlooks Basilica di Santa Maria della Salute and some of Venice’s most iconic landmarks. Our beautiful suite had access to its private “altana”, a traditional Venetian terrace which had an amazing 360 degree view over the city.

The St. Regis Venice re-opens: June 19th.

Hotel Eden

Rome

The beautiful Italian capital couldn’t not be a part of our list. If you’re looking for the best and most luxurious place to stay, Hotel Eden will be it for you. It was renovated two years ago and it’s now even more glamorous and has even more of a Hollywood vibe. On top of that, it is home of the Michelin-starred restaurant La Terrazza, where you are delighted by chef Fabio Ciervo’s creations.
Located close to Via Veneto Street and the Spanish steps, makes it the perfect base for your shopping experience and city sight seeing tours.

Hotel Eden re-opens: September, exact date TBA.

Hotel Il Pellicano

Porto Ercole, Argentario Coast

Located in the quiet Porto Ercole, Hotel Il Pellicano is the epitome of the Italian Dolce Vita, as a matter of fact it was the backdrop of many of Slim Aaron’s photographies and was the home to Hollywood’s finest. Ask for a room overlooking the sea, enjoy the day by the pool or on its private beach. Have a cocktail at Bar All’Aperto sunset and dine at the Michelin-starred Pellicano restaurant while breathing in this heaven-like atmosphere. If you want to know what it feels like to enjoy the Italian “Dolce far niente” this is the place for you.

Hotel Il Pellicano re-opens: June 26th.

Hotel Cala di Volpe

Porto Cervo, Costa Smeralda

Hotel Cala di Volpe is located in Porto Cervo and it’s designed as an old fishing village. It’s got everything, from multiple restaurants to an outdoor gym overlooking the sea and also a private beach only accessible by boat. When we stayed here, we had two amazing meals at Cala di Volpe Barbecue, where not only do they have an amazing buffet where you can enjoy anything from deli meats, to fresh cheese and vegetables and a lot of dessert; but on the menu they also a large selection of other dishes like delicious pasta and fresh fish that are cooked right in front of you!

Hotel Cala di Volpe re-opens: July 2nd.

Cristallo Resort & Spa

Cortina d’Ampezzo

If you’re more of a mountain person, Cortina is one of the most exclusive and famous Italian destinations. A few years ago we spent a long weekend at Cristallo Resort, and this is how we like to remember it:
"This view of the Dolomites overlooking the Valle d’Ampezzo drew me onto my balcony for long stretches each day—I’d order up scrambled eggs and berries for breakfast and prosecco before dinner and gaze out over the valley. Sitting in the summer breeze, I started imagining what the mountains look like in winter—I’m sure they’re even more magical dusted with snow.” (from Andrea’s feature in CN Traveler).

Cristallo re-opens: July 3rd.
